Can I lay new flooring over my existing floor?

Sometimes. Laminate and luxury vinyl can often go over a sound, level existing floor, but you should never lay over a surface that is damaged, damp or uneven. When in doubt, lift the old floor and start fresh.

Is underfloor heating compatible with wood?

Engineered wood is well suited to underfloor heating, while solid wood generally is not. Always check the manufacturer’s maximum surface temperature and let the system warm up gradually.

How long does fitting take?

A single average room can often be completed in a day, though preparation, awkward shapes and drying times can extend this. Never rush the curing or settling stages.

Which floor is best for a busy hallway?

Luxury vinyl is hard to beat here. It is waterproof, hard wearing and forgiving of the mud and water that come through the front door, especially in our climate.

Do I really need underlay?

In almost all cases, yes. Underlay improves comfort, reduces noise and helps level minor imperfections. Skipping it to save a few pounds is a false economy.
